It’s hump dayyyyyyy and as promised, I wanted to finish telling you the rest of my Fashion blogging advice and tips. But first, I had to share with y’all this cute little corduroy skirt from Sabi Boutique . I actually have had this skirt for a while now and they sold out really fast so I wanted to wait to post about it until they got some back in stock and they did! Not only does it come in this pretty maroon color but it also comes in grey (which I also linked for you above). Skirts are so big for Fall and this one is absolutely perfect. It looks great paired with a blouse like I have here but it would also look SO amazing paired with a sweater tucked in and your favorite pair of boots. Talk about an amazing Fall look. *insert heart eye emoji here* Hurry and grab this skirt before it sells out again because trust me when I say you will love it! It also fits true to size. I am wearing the size small. 🙂

These last 3 tips that I have for blogging are a little more in depth and a little more specific than the first 6 were which is why I wanted to break everything out into 2 separate posts. So here is where I left off:

7) Post things that are 100% true to you and your style. It is so easy to get caught up in looking at other blogger’s content and to see all of the new trends that are out there. Just make sure to not get caught up in all of that. If a new trend comes out and you don’t like it that much then don’t post it. I have done that plenty of times. My rule of thumb is that if I don’t 100% love the outfit, love the picture, or love the trend then I will not post it. If I don’t 100% love it then how will I expect others to love it? I feel like staying true to my style and to who I am has really helped me.

8) Be authentic. People want to see and get to know who you really are. This is so important. It is so easy to make your life look like it is so perfect and so happy on social media. But we ALL have struggles and all have problems that we face on a day to day basis. When I started being very real with my struggles in life on my blog and on my Instagram I quickly realized that people noticed. I wrote a big blog post on an emotional journey that I was having with my dad and it has the most views out of any blog post I have ever written. I also can’t even explain to you the amount of comments, emails, and messages that I received in regards to that post. People want to see the REAL you. People appreciate when people are genuine and people can see through people who aren’t. I think being real and genuine with your followers, good times and bad, will help them to respect you and to feel like they know you which in return results in lifetime followers who will want to stay engaged with you.

9) Try to grow as organically as possible. This means not buying followers/likes and not participating in a ton of giveaways. All of these things can be very tempting, especially when you are first starting a blog. But all of these things will only hurt you in the long run. Buying followers is the worst mistake you can make. Take my advice and do not EVER do this to yourself. It does nothing for you at all. These followers are basically fake followers and will never engage in your content. Also make sure to be careful about how many giveaways you participate in. It can be a quick and easy way to gain followers but you need to make sure that they are the right type of giveaways for you. For example, I only participate in Nordstrom giveaways from time to time with other fashion bloggers that have around the same amount of followers and engagement as me. I participate in these giveaways sometimes because they are with other bloggers that I respect and our audience is likely bound to be the same which means if I gain some new followers, they are more likely followers that will stay and will actually want to see my content. I also truly love being able to give someone a Nordstrom gift card since it is one of my top favorite places to shop. Make sure to stay away from the big international giveaways. I have heard horror stories from these kind of giveaways and I just don’t think they are a good idea. You basically end up with a bunch of followers who aren’t interested and won’t engage in your content and you will lose a ton of followers right after the winners of the giveaway are announced anyways. Also make sure to not have any kind of company managing your account. I have just never heard anything good about this. It is always easier to manage your own account especially since Instagram is trying to cut down on people who use companies to manage their accounts. Instagram wants people to be as organic and genuine as possible so it is always easier just to do everything yourself even if it might not be the easiest thing to do as far as time goes.

I also wanted to touch base on Instagram and how it can be a beast within itself. With the new Instagram algorithm, it is very hard to understand how and if the stuff you are posting is actually getting seen by your followers or even new potential followers on Instagram. I will go ahead and let you know that I unfortunately have no “tricks” in this arena although I wish that I did. I have grown faster than I ever expected to on Instagram and I have a lot of people wondering why and how I did it. The true, honest answer is that I have no idea. I simply take pictures in my favorite clothes, post them on Instagram, tag my photographer and the clothing brand, and use hashtags just like everyone else. I wish I knew how pictures ended up on Instagram’s “Explorer” page but I don’t. Whenever a picture of mine has really good engagement (for example, 4K plus likes), I tend to notice that the followers come along with that. They go hand in hand. If my pictures don’t do that well, then I don’t gain a lot of new followers. It is also nearly impossible to know what content is going to do well and what content isn’t. Some of my favorite pictures don’t do that well and some of my least favorite ones do exceptionally well. I think every blogger in the world could say the same thing. Instagram can definitely be a science and I know a ton of people are trying to figure it out. My best advice is to not focus so much on Instagram and the likes/followers. Those will come with time. As long as you are posting good quality content that truly reflects your style, then success will come. Also make sure to not compare yourself to others. Everyone has different strengths, different looks, different personalities and no one will ever understand why one person grows faster than the next. You will drive yourself crazy if you do the comparison game. I know that it is so hard to do sometimes. I struggle with it myself. Just try to focus on yourself, be happy for others, be humble in your own success, and there is no way that you won’t be successful.

I am sorry that this post is SO long but there was so much to touch on and I wanted to be as thorough as possible. If you have any questions about anything that I noted in this post, please feel free to write a comment, shoot me a DM on Instagram (@mumuandmacaroons), or send me an email to mumuandmacaroons@gmail.com and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

XOXO

LOVED reading this girl! It is so true to stay true to yourself. I try to do the same thing when it comes to styles or trends that I don't like. If I really don't like it, I try not to post about it either because I feel like I'm being fake. I love hearing that you do the same! Thanks girl!-Caitlinwww.sparklesandsunshineblog.com
