Beauty Works Hair Extensions

Extension Brand-BeautyWorks

Before Extensions!

Tape in Extension Process

Extensions after! So happy with the results! I got the 18 inch extensions.

This is my after care kit that BeautyWorks gave me! It comes with shampoo, conditioner, and styling products that are perfect and safe to use with your extensions.

This is Crystle and I, from Vain and Luxe. She did a fabulous job putting in my new extensions and she is just the sweetest!

These are pictures showing that you can still put your hair up without seeing the tape from the extensions.

As most of you know, I got tape in extensions put in my hair a couple of weeks ago. I am SO in love with them and wanted to tell you guys a little bit more about the process.

Who did them in Charlotte? I got them put in by Crystle Monero from Vain and Luxe CLT. She is so talented and did such an amazing job. Her instagram handle is here and her website is here. I would definitely reach out to Crystle for a consultation if you are interested in having tape in extensions. She is located in the Sola Salons in Charlotte right off of South Blvd where Oku and Free People are located. You can email her at or give her a call at 980-244-1599 to set up an appointment.

What is pricing like? I have gotten this question from a lot of you and unfortunately it is not a question that I can directly answer. Pricing depends on your hair type, length, what type of extensions you want, etc. So you must make an appointment first and complete your consultation before you can know how much they are going to cost. The consultation is so quick and easy though!

What was the process like? This was my first time ever having extensions so the process was totally new for me. I was surprised at how quick and easy the entire process was. I went into meet with Crystle for a quick consultation. It only took about 30 minutes and basically she just looked at my hair and we decided on what length and color I needed to go with. You have to go in for a consultation to ensure that your color matches perfectly and then the extensions themselves have to be ordered. The extensions were ordered and arrived within a few days (so a very quick process) and she actually put them in for me the very next week. The process of putting them in was completely painless. It didn't hurt at all and there was no discomfort. It took a couple of hours only because after the extensions are put in you need to trim your extensions to make them blend in with your hair seamlessly. Then of course, you will want them to be styled the way you want them. Crystle did an amazing job of curling my hair after the extensions and trimming were done! So the entire extension fitting includes installation, blending cut and style on clean, dry hair. A wash and blow out can be booked as an additional add on as well.

What brand of extensions did you use? So let me tell you a little bit about the brand of extensions that I used. The brand is called BeautyWorks and you can see a ton of pictures of their extensions on other people on their Instagram page here. BeautyWorks brand hair is made by 100% human virgin remy hair that is colored by hand and can be re-used over and over again up to one year, sometimes even longer with proper maintenance and care. I was really excited to use this brand of extensions because they are used by some of Hollywoods biggest stars such as The Kardashians, Katy Perry, and even Victoria Secret models. So far, I have absolutely loved them. They are so soft and feel exactly like my natural hair and the color matched absolutely perfectly with my already balayaged hair. I also put in 18 inch extensions for those of you wondering which length I went with! You can obviously go longer or shorter than this, depending on what look you are wanting to go for.

What are tape in extensions like? The Tape in extension method is done by attaching the extension to your natural hair with medical grade tape. It lies completely flat and is the lightest hair extension type available on the market. I seriously can't even feel that I have them in my hair unless I am actually reaching to feel them on my scalp. Tape in extensions have the versatality of being styled in many different ways. You can even do high sleek ponytails without seeing any of the tape from the extensions. The application lasts between 4-8 weeks before needing maintenance and works for most hair types.

What is maintenance like afterwards? So far maintenance has been really easy! The only change I have really had to make is how often I wash my hair. I was washing my hair every single day which isn't good for your hair anyways. With the tape in extensions, it is fine to wash your hair whenever you would like but they will last longer the less you wash them. Also, since your hair will be a lot thicker from the extensions, it will take longer to dry so you will definitely want to cut down on drying time by not washing your hair as frequently. Right now I am trying to only wash my hair 2-3 times week. I am doing this by obviously just using a shower cap when I shower and by using lots of dry shampoo. It's amazing what a good dry shampoo can do! My absolute favorite dry shampoo to use is Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo. It's amazing, smells good, and leaves zero residue in your hair. Also make sure to use sulfate free shampoo and conditioner when washing your hair. This will help the tape ins to last longer. When I do dry my hair I just dry the root with a hair dryer first and then try and let my hair air dry as much as possible before drying the rest of my hair. This cuts down on drying time significantly and I also find myself washing my hair at night instead of in the mornings now. I would also recommend getting a silk pillow case to sleep on. Silk cases are better for hair extensions and cause zero damage while sleeping. Putting my hair up in a pony tail hasn't been a problem at all either. I am still going to the gym everyday and putting my hair up. So really, not much has changed! I am really, really pleased with everything and I think that I will continue to use the extensions for months to come.

I hope that this was informative for all of you. I tried to go over everything that I could possibly think to go over. Overall, I am SO happy with my decision to try out tape in extensions and I will continue to use them. I highly, highly recommend Crystle from Vain and Luxe CLT and highly recommend the BeautyWorks brand. They have both been amazing to work with and I promise that you won't be disappointed. If you have any other questions at all about the extensions or the process please either leave a comment on this blog post, send me an email at, or you can send me a DM on Instagram-@mumuandmacaroons. I will get back to you as soon as possible!

Love you all and hope you have an amazing week! My husband and I are moving into our new house this week! Eeeeekkk I am SO excited! Moving is never a fun process so wish us luck! I can't wait to get settled in and start the decorating process. Can't wait to show y'all before and after pictures. :)

Corduroy Jumper

All Photos by: Jim Trice Photography

I just got back from Miami yesterday and I have been soooo tired. Spent the last 24 hours basically resting and catching up on sleep. But now it is time to get back into the grind and I am so excited to write another blog post and check in with you guys again. Miami was absolutely amazing. Once we get the pictures back I will do a blog recap off our entire trip. Let's just say I am totally in love with Miami now and don't understand why I don't live there haha!

I hope that everyone had a great Valentine's Day. Whether you spent it with your significant other or your best girlfriends, the day is still a great day to celebrate the people that you love in your life. My husband and I are planning on really celebrating Valentine's Day this weekend since I was gone most of the day yesterday but he did surprise me with a beautiful bouquet of roses and the sweetest card. I was traveling all day but I spent a lot of time on the airplane thinking about the true meaning of love. I opened my bible and started reading 1 Corinthians 13 and really tried to think about every single thing that the bible verse talks about.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. It always protects, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.- 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Wow, when you really think about everything in that verse it is incredible. Think about everyone that you have loved in your life. Have you always loved in the kind of way that the bible calls us to love? Probably not. I know that I haven't. This verse really made me realize that I need to start loving people around me more and loving them the way God calls us to love. I know that a lot of the times I am not patient, I am easily angered, and in our day and age we all struggle with being envious of others, being self-seeking and keeping records of wrongs. In a way, it is what the world teaches us to do. "Oh that person hurt you? Screw them. Get revenge. Never forgive them. They hurt you". How many times in your life have you felt like that? Probably a lot and so have I. But that is NOT the right thing to do and God calls us to do everything but that. God wants us to love others how He loves us. I love the last line in the verse: love never fails. If we truly love every single person the way God calls us to love, our relationships with people would never fail. That is something incredible to think about. After all of the time I had to reflect yesterday, I am really going to try and focus on the true meaning of love and loving my friends, family and husband the way 1 Corinthians calls us to do. I hope that you will do the same.

On another note, I have been wanting a corduroy jumper for the longest time and finally got this pink one from Pineapple Collective Boutique. To say I am in love with it is an understatement. It is way TOO CUTE. This jumper is a perfect way to transition into warmer Spring weather. You can wear it with a long sleeve shirt like I did now and then when it gets warmer outside you can easily wear it with a short sleeve top or even a tank top. I also love how the jumper has 2 cute little pockets in the back and buttons in the front. This has to be one of my favorite new outfits. I am wearing the size small for reference. If pink isn't your color, I linked some other colors above and below. Remember that you can use code MUMU20 to receive 20% off of your order at Pineapple Collective

Olive Wrap Dress

All Photos By: Jim Trice Photography

I hope that everyone had the best weekend! As you all know, I went to New York this past weekend with some of my friends to attend New York Fashion Week and we had an absolute blast. We were only there for 2 days but boy was it fun. I am now currently on the way to Miami to shoot with Vestique this week. I went straight from our hotel in Times Square to JFK and I am writing this as I am sitting in the airport waiting to board the flight. It's definitely been a very busy couple of days but I have loved every second of it.

NYFW was even more fun than I thought it was going to be and I think it is because of the amazing ladies that I was with. I went with the best group of girls and my photographer Deeana. It was zero drama and ALL fun. The first night we got there we attended the Sherri Hill fashion show and then went to go grab drinks and eat at Nobu. The second day we all woke up really early to start shooting some of our New York looks. Some of the girls went to other fashion shows, some went to other parts of New York to shoot, and others just shot some looks around our hotel. It was nice all being able to kind of do our own thing but then meet up after everything was done. That night we went to the Mac Duggal Fashion show (which was amazing!!!), went by Beauty & Essex for cocktails and some apps, then made our way to Lavo to eat a late dinner. I can't tell y'all how much fun it was. I think we all laughed until our stomachs hurt. Isn't that always the best? If you are making a trip to New York soon and need some good dinner spot recommendations then definitely make sure to stop by Nobu, Beauty & Essex, and Lavo. They were all absolutely amazing. If you go by Beauty & Essex you have to get their tuna tartare tacos. They were to die for! I will try and do a full blog post recap of New York for you guys soon and show you all of the looks that I wore when I was there!

Before I get on this flight to Miami, I wanted to share with y'all one of my favorite new dresses from Vestique- this olive green wrap dress. I love it because it is simple yet so cute at the same time. It is a great staple piece to have and can be worn and styled so many ways. The wrap design on the side is my absolute favorite part about it. Not to mention, it is SO comfy. These tan wedge sandals that I am wearing with it are an amazing dupe for the Marc Fisher ones and are only $40!!! They are going fast so make sure to grab a pair before they fully sell out. I also linked some similar pairs above and below. I also love this look paired with this BaubleBar gold necklace, which is one of my favorite necklaces that I have ever owned. It's an awesome touch to any outfit.

I hope you all have a great start to your week. I will be checking in again soon! And stay tuned to my Instagram stories for some Miami fun. :)

Instead of sharing a verse today I wanted to share with you all some lyrics from a song called Control by Tenth Avenue North that has been on replay for me. It is such an amazing song and really speaks a lot of truth. Really think about these lyrics as you read them: "God You don't need me but somehow you want me. Oh, how You love me. Somehow that frees me to take my hands off of my life and the way it should go. Somehow that frees me to open my hands up and give You control. I give You control."

Red Gaucho Pants + Life Update

Happy Thursday sweet friends! I hope you all had an amazing week. I haven't really been able to chat with you all in a while so I figured I would give a little life update. Life has been insanely busy but in a great way.

The biggest life update is that my husband and I bought our fist house!!!! I am SO thrilled. We have been waiting to buy for a while now and knew that we wanted to buy sometime this year. However, this house just kind of fell into our lap, we weren't really actively looking. Our realtor saw that this house came on the market and that it was in our ideal neighborhood in Charlotte. He called us immediately, asked if we wanted to go see it, so we went that night to see it. We fell in love with the house as soon we walked in. It had everything that we wanted. Open floor plan, hardwood floors, newly renovated kitchen with white cabinets and granite countertops. huge master bedroom with master bath, a bonus office room off of the master, 2 guest bedrooms, another huge guest bathroom, and a fenced in backyard. The best part was that it was literally in the exact neighborhood that we wanted to be in. So we put in an offer that night and it got accepted the very next day. The process happened so fast that it almost didn't feel real. We close on February 28th and will be moving that entire week so everything is happening so fast. I have been furniture shopping like crazy and I cannot wait to show you all pictures along the way and to start sharing some more interior design with you guys. :) We are truly so excited to start this next chapter in our lives. God is so, so good!

The next 2 weeks are crazy busy for me so I do apologize in advance if I am not writing as many blog posts as I normally would. I am leaving tomorrow to go to New York Fashion week for the weekend and then I am flying out of New York on Sunday to fly straight to Miami to shoot with Vestique until the middle of the week. Then the next Wednesday we leave for the Dominican Republic for my husband's work trip. These are all very exciting things but this girl is going to be exhausted. I cannot wait though!!!

I wanted to share with y'all this cute little outfit from Show Me Your Mumu. I am obsessed with it. Gaucho pants are so in this season and these red ones give me ALL the heart eyes. I absolutely love these pants paired with this floral tie top. They match together perfectly. The pants do come with a matching red top here but I really loved the look of the pants paired with a printed top. I think it really gives the outfit that extra POP that it needs. How cute would this look be for Valentine's Day?? The red makes it the perfect Valentine's Day look but this outfit is also a perfect Spring Transition look. Just to let you guys know, everything fits true to size. I am wearing my normal size small in the top and the pants. The pants also have pockets which I love!! I just can't get enough of this entire look. This one will definitely be on repeat for me. I hope that you all have a great weekend!
