Happy FRIDAY everyone! I just got home from Nashville and had to share with y’all one of my favorite makeup trends for this Fall; this grunge smokey eye look. I created this entire makeup look only using products from Ulta Beauty and I have to say that I am obsessed. Ultra Beauty is my absolute favorite place to buy all of my beauty supplies because they have such a great selection. I mean you can literally get anything you need at Ulta including everything from skincare, to hair care, to makeup, etc. I also love how they carry drug store brands. It’s a great one stop shop for all of your beauty needs. Alright, so let’s talk about this look.

I found out that dark eyeshadow colors with a purple undertone are going to be HUGE this Fall.  Just like the orange shade eyeshadows were really trendy this Summer. At first I was a little nervous to try this trend just because I had never really worn “purple” shaded eyeshadow before but I am SO glad that I did because I absolutely love it. To create this grunge smokey eyeshadow look from Ulta Beauty I started with the MAC Burgundy Times Nine Palette and really focused on the color “Embark”. If you look at the picture of the palette, Embark is the darker color in the very middle. It is so great at creating that perfect smokey eye look this upcoming Fall.

To create this smokey eye I used the MAC Burgundy Times Nine Palette in these shades:

1) I put the color “Poppyseed” all over my entire eyelid which is a pretty light lavender color

2) I used the color “Haux” for my crease which is a great transitional color

3) Also applied “Haux” on the outter crease of my eyelid

4) I applied the color “Star Violet” to the outter most part of my lid to give it a little bit of that purple toned shimmer

5) I applied the color “Sketch” which is a deep purple shade to my outer crease

6) For my last step I went back in with “Embark” which is one of the darkest shades in the palette and focused on blending that color into my crease and outer crease to really give it that Fall smokey eye look. This color was my favorite out of the entire palette! It is a great dark color for Fall.

For the rest of this look, I used the Benefit Cosmetics Precisely My Brow Pencil in the color #3 and then set the color with the Benefit Cosmetics 24-Hour Brow Setter. I highly recommend both of these eyebrow products. They work really well together and are so easy to apply. I then finished the eye look by using Still Stay All Day Eye Liner in the color Intense Black and Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara; two products that I have used for years and couldn’t live without. To top off this Fall look, I applied the Buxom Va Va Plump Liquid Lipstick in the color “Stay the Night”. This lip shade has a burgundy/purple color to it as well which is perfect to go with this eye shadow look. This entire makeup look is SO perfect for Fall when you have a special occasion or have a fun night out/date night. It is such a fun smokey look and I can’t wait to use all of these products all Fall long.

Since we are on the subject of beauty, I also wanted to talk about what beauty really means to me. Beauty isn’t just on the outside. In fact, beauty is all about what is on the inside. True beauty is being a kind person to everyone that you meet in life and loving people to the fullest. True beauty is being able to forgive others and really loving them. True beauty is confidence in who you are and what you do. True beauty is looking beyond what you’ve been told is beautiful and recognizing what makes YOU UNIQUE. Beauty is about being the best possible version of yourself on the inside and out. Beauty isn’t about having a pretty face. It’s abut having a pretty heart, a pretty mind, a pretty outlook, and most importantly, a beautiful soul. I hope that all of us, especially as females, in a world that is filled with so much jealousy and comparison, that we can really realize that our worth is in our soul and who we are, and not what we look like. Sure, it is fun to feel and look beautiful on the outside, but it is what is on the INSIDE that really counts.

Thank you so much to Ulta for sponsoring this post. As always, the thoughts and opinions are all of my own.

XOXO,

Katy
