A huge thank you to The Tailored Closets for partnering with us and making our closet dreams come true!

I can’t believe it’s been four months since our little man joined our family.

I honestly do not even remember life without him anymore! Crazy how that is, right??

I shared all the details of his sweet adventure themed nursery here, but I left out his closet and there was a reason for that!

We were SO lucky to get to work with The Tailored Closet in Charlotte, NC on this nursery closet situation and I can’t say enough about how pleased I am with our results!

They are a closet makeover company with tons of locations so you should check and see if one is near you because I promise they’ll make all your dreams come true and they’re amazing to work with!

They helped us so much to tackle this closet (and our own closet and our garage – all those posts are coming soon!) and today I’m sharing some organization tips I’ve learned directly from the experts with you!

Organized Baby Closet Ideas

Consider the size of your space

Of course we all want the gorgeous giant walk in closets that are all over Pinterest, but the reality is that may not be what you’re working with and that’s okay!

You can maximize the space you have, but you have to start with what you have in front of you first!

Shoe storage that can grow with them

I love the pull out shelves we have for Walker’s sweet tiny shoes (are these baby Uggs not to DIE for???), but once he gets older, this drawer can be used for other things like suspenders, bow ties, or hats.

His shoes won’t be this little forever, but while they are, it’s best to keep them up and where you can reach them since he’s not grabbing for them by himself (yet).

Use drawers if possible

Even though you may have a dresser in your nursery, as your little one gets older and their clothes get bigger, it is great to have as many drawers as possible for storage and so that they can stay hidden if they look messy.

Another tip I love is to use drawer organizers if possible. They’re perfect for keeping socks, onesies, and other small items in order. You can use them to separate different types of clothing or to keep two piece outfits together.

Don’t forget the dirty clothes

Don’t get me wrong – your hampers can be stylish and super cute, but you’re going to be going through a lot of clothes as a little one.

Which means you’ll definitely need a hamper! If your closet is too small to fit it inside, you can easily add them to a convenient location within your nursery.

Shelves and Hanging Rods

You will need room for hanging clothes of course, but the key is to have shelves dividing at least one side of your closet rod.

That way you can utilize the shelf to put things on that need a home.

When they’re little that might be things like bibs, blankets, or burp cloths. As they get older, that might mean more like belts, hats or even trophies.

Storage baskets

Nobody tells you all the LITTLE things you need for a baby, but the good news is, you can stick all that stuff in a storage basket and then reach for them when you need it.

Pro tip from this mama over here: Always buy backup loveys if your kids have them. And change them out every now and then so that they get used to both so that if something happens, you always have a backup!

When they get older, these storage bins can be used for storing all the toys without feeling like they’re taking over your entire house!

Remember that key to any baby closet idea is to keep it simple and practical. By incorporating these ideas, you can make the most of your nursery closet space and keep everything neat and tidy.

Happy organizing 🙂
