Homemade Ice Cream

Today’s blog post is something SWEET. For the first time ever, I made homemade ice-cream and I got to do it with Harper!! Since I had never made it before, I didn’t really know where to start.

Thankfully, Walmart Home had everything I needed to make this delicious summer treat. They have so many amazing kitchen gadgets, home decor items, patio furniture, and fashion pieces. I’m going to attach the recipe I used at the bottom of this so you can make your own homemade vanilla ice-cream too.

Here is the shining star of making this ice-cream so quick and easy, the Cuisinart Ice Cream/Yogurt Makers Frozen Yogurt – Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker.  The Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker makes it so simple to create frozen treats in 20 minutes or less. It has the capacity to make up to 1 quart of ice cream with the double-insulted freezer bowl that eliminates the need for ice! The easy-lock lid with large spout makes it so easy to add your favorite ice cream toppings and ingredients. Think about having your own Marble Slab or Cold Stone Creamery in your kitchen (goodbye self-control). Head to your local Walmart to pick up the main hit of your summer and all of the ingredients you need!

Once you get the ice cream made, it’s time to add your favorite toppings and serve them in your favorite mixing bowls. I found my new favorite ice cream scoop from the Pioneer Woman as well as some SUPER cute polka-dot bowls! The last thing I grabbed was a new set of silverware! Harper loves to play with forks and spoons so I thought this would be a great buy that lets her play and use an easy to replace set of silverware!

While I was at Walmart, I stopped by the clothes and found the cutest outfit for Harper to wear when we go to the beach this week, it is a little big but I know she will grow into it so soon! I also grabbed this beautiful pink dress for myself that can be dressed up to be fancy or dressed down to keep it casual. Finding great pieces like this at such affordable prices is always up my ally.

The moment you have all been waiting for, here is the recipe and directions I used to make our homemade vanilla ice cream. (Recipe and instructions from Cuisinart).

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer on low speed or whisk to combine the milk, sugar, and salt until the sugar is dissolved. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla. Cover and refrigerate 1 to 2 hours, or overnight depending on the consistency you want.
  2. Turn on the Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker; pour the mixture into the frozen freezer bowl and let mix until thickened, about 15 to 20 minutes. The ice cream will have a soft, creamy texture. If a firmer consistency is desired, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and place in freezer for about 2 hours.
  3. Remove from freezer about 15 minutes before serving.

Step 4 from Katy: Add toppings and drench your ice-cream in chocolate syrup and sprinkles.

Lastly, when I was growing up, these were my favorite bowls. I loved eating ice-cream and basically everything else out of them. I found them at Walmart and just ordered some so Harper can use the same bowls I did growing up.

Thank you to Walmart for sponsoring this post. As always, the thoughts and opinions are my own.

XOXO,

Katy
