Cold Weather Look with ModCloth

All Photos by: Paige Winn Photography

I am so happy to have collaborated with ModCloth to bring you this perfect cold weather look. I am not going to lie, ModCloth is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to shop and they are seriously the perfect one-stop shop for all of your Holiday needs. They have gifts for pretty much every girl on your list. I have already bought Christmas gifts for my mom, grandma, mother in law, and sister in laws. Trust me when I say they have the cutest gifts from sweaters, accessories, shoes and home decor. Definitely check them out when you start doing your Christmas shopping!

This sweater comes in 5 colors including this light blue that I am wearing and I absolutely LOVE it. It is oversized, has a cute cowl neck, and is the perfect length to wear with your favorite skinny jeans or leggings. Not to mention that it is so, so cozy. This sweater truly is such a great staple piece to have. You can wear it so many different ways, with so many things, and it is so soft that you will never want to take it off. I already have my eye on the cream colored one and the mauve colored one. Not to mention, I bought one for a few people on my Christmas list! :)

I love this sweater paired with this plaid blanket scarf. I am not going to lie, I would normally probably wear this kind of blanket scarf with an ivory or white colored top but I am LOVING it with this light blue sweater. It's different and the colors in the scarf go with it beautifully. I don't know about you, but there is really nothing I love to wear more in the cooler temperatures than a good blanket scarf. This one is perfect and comes in 3 other colors. At $19, you should definitely get yourself a couple. They will never go out of style.

Thank you to ModCloth for sponsoring this post. As always, the opinions are all of my own. Make sure to check them out. They have everything from party dresses with sparkle and shine to cozy and casual sweaters like I am wearing here to quirky kitchen accessories that bring whimsy into hosting your friends and family. I also wanted to mention that you should visit @ModCloth's handle on Instagram to learn more info on how to earn a $1K gift card. How perfect would that extra money be for some Christmas shopping?!

XOXO,

Red Jumpsuit

I hope you all had a blast shopping Cyber Monday today! I know I probably did a little too much damage. But the deals are so amazing that I just couldn't stop myself. The best part about shopping Cyber Monday is not having to leave the couch. HA, can you tell how lazy I am?

Have you ever seen a red jumpsuit that you love more?? When I first saw this online I just about died over it. First of all, I love the color red and second of all, I love a wide legged jumpsuit. So this one crosses all of those boxes for me. This jumpsuit is SO perfect for any of your Holiday Christmas parties. You can't go wrong with wearing red to any of those. Also, can we talk about this gorgeous back? I think the open back is my favorite part of the jumpsuit. This one is a show stopper for sure. Just for reference, I am 5'7", wear a normal size 2, and I am wearing the size small with 4 inch heels.

I think this look is so fun paired with a cheetah clutch and gold accessories. If you haven't been able to tell yet, this cheetah clutch is one of my favorite things that I own. I wear it with just about anything and everything. It is from one of my favorite boutiques, Red Dress Boutique, and they told me it is one of their best sellers. They have reordered it so many times because it is in such high demand. It's such a great quality clutch too for the price so I highly recommend purchasing!

Speaking of Red Dress Boutique, I am here in Athens again to do another shoot with them. I actually got to meet one of my favorite bloggers today, Torunn, from BeYoutiful Blog. We are actually shooting together all day tomorrow and are staying in the same hotel room. We went to dinner tonight and I do have to say, it is so refreshing to meet people like her. She is so genuine and so much fun to be around. I already feel like we have so many similarities. I am so thankful to blogging for bringing so many new people and new faces into my life. It is truly such a blessing!

Nordstrom Black Friday Sale

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! My mom, my husband, and I are currently on our way to Raleigh to spend Thanksgiving with my husband's family. On the ride here I figured I would go ahead and check out the Nordstrom Black Friday sale since it has already started and round up my favorite picks for you guys! The sale is GOOD y'all! SO many of my favorite brands are in the sale. For Black Friday, Nordstrom is giving everyone an extra 20-25% off all sale items. My favorite item from the sale so far are a pair of Stuart Weitzman boots that are 52% off. These are by far my favorite over the knee boots and finding them at this price is a steal. Check out my top picks below and grab these goodies before they sell out.

I hope everyone has an amazing day with their family and loved ones. It's a great day to remember what you are thankful for. I have been so blessed this year and I am extremely thankful to God for giving me a job that I am passionate about, an amazing family, an incredible/loving husband, the best kitty in the world, and the most genuine friends any girl could ever ask for. I am truly lucky beyond belief.

Plaid Mini Skirt

Happy Tuesday everyone! I had the craziest day yesterday and finally made it to Charleston around 9:00 pm last night. I don't know about you but I hate driving in the dark so the drive wasn't that great except for the fact that my sweet husband talked to me on the phone pretty much the whole way here. I have a problem with getting really tired when I drive, especially in the dark, so having him on the phone with me helped tremendously. It's the little things right?

So today my blogger babes Hilary (@byhilaryrose), Jaime (@charlestonblonde), and Ashley (@ashleybeary) and I all have a really fun project that we are working on here in Charleston. I can't wait to show you guys all know what it is! We are about to head to get our hair and makeup done now and then off to start the day. I'll give you a little hint, part of the project involves a video of all of us throughout the day from an amazing videographer here in Charleston. I am SO excited about that part!

So I am dying over the plaid skirt trend right now. I think they are so so fun and I love how you can easily pair them with your favorite over the knee boots. This one from Vestique is the absolute cutest and for only $40, you cannot beat the price! I absolutely love it paired with this mesh cut out velvet bodysuit. It adds such a hot, sexy flare to a more traditional skirt which I love. This bodysuit not only looks amazing paired with this plaid skirt but it is a piece that you could wear with so many things. It would look great paired with your favorite pair of high waisted denim and heels for a fun night out look. Since it's also velvet, it is such a great bodysuit to wear for any of your Holiday parties. My favorite part about it is the low cut back. You guys already know I love low cut backs on clothing so this bodysuit was an immediate winner for me.

I hope you all have a great day! Tomorrow is my birthday so I will be checking back in soon!

XOXO,
Katy

The Perfect Velvet Gown for the Holidays

All Photos by: Jim Trice Photography

I am SO excited for Thanksgiving this week but I am even more excited for Christmas. There is nothing more fun than celebrating Christmas and New Year's Eve. One of my favorite parts about this time of year is all of the parties and all of the time that you get to spend around your family and friends. You are surrounded by constant love and constant celebrating. Who doesn't love that?

With all of the Holiday parties coming up, I constantly have my eye open for Holiday dresses and this velvet gown from Foi Clothing Boutique is absolutely STUNNING. Y'all, I just seriously die over and over again every time I look at it. How perfect is this dress for one of your fancy Holiday parties? It would also be absolutely perfect for a black tie wedding. Velvet is such a huge trend right now and this crushed velvet is so amazing on this gown. And can we just talk about the back for a second?? It is a show stopper for sure. This gown sold out so quickly in size small (there are still medium and larges left) but you can go ahead and preorder a small right now on Foi's website and the gown will ship on November 27th. For those of you curious about sizing, this dress definitely fits true to size. I am wearing a size small and it does have a little stretch. I love it paired with gold accessories and this faux fur jacket to keep you warm this time of year. I seriously cannot get enough of the fur right now!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and is getting to spend some time with their family this week. The Holidays are going to be a little hard for me this year as it is the first year I won't be spending it with my dad. However, I am so lucky to have an amazing husband and other family members who I will be able to spend a lot of quality time with. This week is going to be a crazy week for me. Tomorrow I have my last blogging shoot of the week before I head to Charleston for a fun collaboration with some of my blogger babes. I am in Charleston for 2 short nights before I come back to Charlotte to celebrate my birthday on Wednesday with my husband and my mom. Then early Thursday morning my mom, my husband, and I will be driving to Raleigh to spend Thanksgiving with his parents until Saturday. Then back to Charlotte it is! As crazy as this week will be, I am so excited for it!

XOXO,
Katy

Tie Sleeve Cardigan

I hope that everyone has had a great week. We finally got some SUN in Charlotte (Praise Jesus) and it has been amazing. When it's sunny outside my mood just gets better. Is anyone else like that? I also love my blogging pictures so much more when it is sunny outside so I was so excited to get some awesome pictures in some new outfits for you guys. Can't wait to share those in the weeks to come!

I had to share with y'all my favorite cardigan. It has the cutest tie sleeves and would be perfect to wear to any of your Thanksgiving festivities. Not to mention that it is on MAJOR sale right now and comes in 2 other colors. But seriously it is over 50% off right now so if you want it I would definitely get it now. This is a cardigan that you will definitely get your wear out of. I find myself grabbing it out of my closet all the time. I paired it with this amazing cami bodysuit but it would also look great paired with a loose fitting tank or t-shirt for an even more casual look. I am thinking about wearing this cardigan Thanksgiving day but I will definitely be pairing it with my favorite t-shirt because let's be honest FOOD BABY does not equal bodysuit hahaha. Speaking of Thanksgiving who is ready to stuff their face?? This girl sure is.

I have had so many collaborations recently that I really haven't been able to write about anything that's been on my heart so I am so happy to be able to do that now. Whenever I am driving long distances I always listen to sermons so the other week when I was driving back from Athens, GA I put on a sermon from Elevation Church. The verse that Pastor Steven Furtick spoke about was Matthew 18:21-22: "Then Peter came up and said to him, "Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?" Jesus said to him "I do not say to you seven times but seventy times seven". Read that again and really think about that verse. Isn't it crazy to think about? We as humans always think that if a person does something wrong against us a certain amount of times that we have to be "done with them" and walk away. Often times when we walk away it leaves a sense of bitterness that often hurts us in the long run. But God calls us to forgive over and over and over again. He tells us that we should keep no records of wrong. I don't know about you, but I think that is one of the hardest things to do. It is SO hard to forgive someone who has hurt us over and over and over again. I do agree that sometimes if someone does enough damage that it is best for us to walk away from that person or situation so that we can live in peace and not have to deal with unnecessary toxicity. However, I think where the issue lies is when we walk away with hatred and bitterness and resentment. If there is one thing that I have learned this year after everything that I have been through, it is that I cannot hold onto anger. My heart can't do it. And most importantly, I know Jesus doesn't want me to do it. Holding onto bitterness and not forgiving others hurts me more than anything. Even though we don't normally think about this, not forgiving others hurts us more than it actually hurts the other person. In the past couple of months thanks to therapy and a whole lot of Jesus and guidance, I have learned to completely let go of all hurt and all pain and most importantly I have forgiven those that have hurt me. Y'all, when I truly forgave and truly gave it to God I was set FREE. It is amazing how that happens. I no longer harp on bitterness. I no longer harp on the pain. I no longer have hatred. I gave it all to God and I forgave. Is there anyone or any situation in your life that has caused you pain or that you are really bitter about? I urgeeeeee you to give it to God. I urge you to forgive, not for the other person, but for yourself. If you do this God will give you the peace that will set you free and it is such an amazing gift.

XOXO,
Katy
