Frozen Birthday Party Ideas for Summer

Even if your little one has a birthday in summer, you can still have the perfect Frozen themed birthday party with these simple ideas!

I can not believe Harper is 3!

It seriously feels like just yesterday when I was putting the final touches on her perfect little flamingo themed nursery. Time flies, right mamas?

Harper has been Frozen OBSESSED for quite some time now and so it was a given that we would throw her a Frozen themed party!

However, her birthday is in July and so I wanted to share with you how to have the best Frozen themed birthday party even if you have a babe with a summer birthday like our girl!

Summer Frozen Themed Birthday Party Tips

“Big Summer Blowout”

closeup of sign that says big summer blow out with yoo hoo

One of the lines that I think is so funny from the original movie is when Anna stumbles into Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post right after Elsa freezes Arendelle and he says “Yoo hoo! Big summer blowout!”

Using that as a foundation can give you the perfect drink ideas – Yoo Hoo!

One of my neighborhood friends made this cute little cart (she found the idea on Pinterest!). We added the Frozen themed decor to the top and made it out of table clothes. We also added this gold hammered bowl filled with Yoo Hoo! Thought this was such a cute drink idea for the kids.

We did simple snacks and food for the kids – making sure that we had enough cool treats to go along with our Frozen themed food as well.

Here are some great ideas for Frozen birthday party themed food if you’re trying to keep kids cool in the summer:

  • Frozen Gogurt tubes
  • Frozen String Cheese
  • Cups of stick pretzels and make a sign that says “Olaf’s Arms” – how CUTE???
  • Cold or frozen fruit
  • Build your own snowman with marshmallows and pretzels
  • Mini frozen popsicles
  • Blue Jell-o cubes (to look like ice cubes)

The key for having a Frozen themed birthday party in the summer is to make sure you don’t have treats that can melt outside (chocolate, anything covered with icing, etc) so that you’re not left with a bunch of sad looking food on your perfectly decorated table!

Ice Cold Cocktails

If you’re in the Charlotte area, I can not recommend Your Charlotte Bartender enough. We have them every time we have a big event at our house and they always bring the best service when it comes to in home bartender services.

We use them for our annual golf tournament parties and they make some of the best cocktails we have ever had!

They created special Frozen themed cocktails that were beautiful AND so delicious. Here are the drinks that we made:

The key to throwing a good kid birthday party is not to leave the parents out. They deserve a little break too!

I loved that the variety of these cocktails had all different types of liquor and some were super sweet and others were more salty and tart. Something for everyone!

Little Details

The little details can make such a huge difference at a party! My friend Mollie from college started a company called Lucky Lemon Paper Co. She made us the CUTEST Frozen themed cocktail drink stirrers.

The bartenders put them in every single drink they passed out and they were the most adorable addition!

She made them with a 3 and little snowflakes, a princess crown, Anna’s face, Elsa’s face and Olaf’s face (pictured below). THE CUTEST!!! She can make them according to any theme party that you have! Couldn’t recommend her more.

Sensory Table

You guys, I found @gold.and.gray on Instagram and when I realized they were local to me I was SO EXCITED because I knew this was the perfect solution.

Look how precious this sensory table is!!! She can tailor her sensory tables to fit any theme you want!

It has all the blue and purple beads and colored rice and then throw in all the Frozen characters and it’s the cutest addition to any Frozen themed birthday party in the summer (or any season, really!)

It started pouring down rain so we moved this from the middle of the grass to under our back porch and it was SUCH a hit with Harper and her little besties.

Fair warning that this stuff will get everywhere, but because none of it is wet or sticky (no kinetic sand and no play-doh or slime) it’s super easy to sweep and clean up!

I just loved seeing all the little hands enjoying this amazing space. It was so sweet. I couldn’t believe how much the kids loved the sensory table. Kids of all ages played with it all night. It was such a hit! I told Cam that we have to have one of these at every birthday party from here on out. It is such great entertainment for the kiddos.

Party Favors

@gold.and.gray also made the cutest Frozen themed party favors!! They were adorable and were sensory themed filled with Frozen colored play dough and little Frozen characters.

She also made customized stickers for the top that said “Harper is 3! Thanks SNOW much for coming to my party!”. We absolutely loved them and they were a hit!

We put them in Frozen themed party favor bags (pictured below) that I picked up at Party City. I also filled the bags with some Frozen themed party favors from Party City and some Frozen themed PEZ candies that I found on Amazon!

Couldn’t recommend Gold and Gray more for custom party favors. They are so much cuter than anything you could buy at the store!

Opt for a White Bouncy House

closeup of white bouncy castle

Most bouncy castles you rent are bright colors and while those are super fun, they can also get really hot in summer.

We are local to The White Bounce House and got to work with them for this party! We ended up going with the classic white bounce house that also has a slide on one side.

I love that the bouncy castle we chose had 2 sides – a place for the kiddos to bounce and then the other side had a slide.

It was such a hit, as always!

Again, if you’re local to Charlotte, I can’t recommend The White Bounce House enough! Their customer service is top notch and they’ll set everything up for you (including this faux grass pad!) and tear it down. And you don’t have to lift a finger. Amazing.

Of course, a bouncy castle isn’t complete without a balloon arch, right? And when it comes to that, I don’t ever look further than The Posh Balloon, also local to me in Charlotte. We are so super lucky to have companies that do amazing work right here in our backyard.

I mean, they don’t miss a single detail, y’all! All you have to do is tell them what you’re going for (colors, theme, whatever you want) and they’ll come up with the design and set it all up for you!

Jordyn, the owner of the company is so sweet and SO incredibly talented. Couldn’t recommend her more!!

The Posh Balloon is great for any kind of party you can think of from birthdays to anniversaries or even graduations and baby showers! I had the best service and can’t speak highly enough of them!

Be Prepared to Pivot

Y’all.

I spent SIX HOURS in the blazing heat setting up this party and then looked at the weather right before her party was about to start to find a brand new 90% chance of rain popped up.

Summer showers in the south are NO JOKE and so if you’re doing a birthday party outdoors, make sure you’ve got a plan if it rains.

We had to pivot super quickly and move everything indoors so that all my hard work wouldn’t go to waste.

Alternatively, if you have tents on hand, that might be a good option too! Unfortunately our only tent we had available to us was being used by our bartenders and I was more than happy to keep them dry so the drinks could keep flowing.

It worked out so good for us too because since Harper has been a little Frozen feign for a while, she had plenty of toys that we were able to set up indoors and we loved seeing her and her little friends playing with them!

frozen themed coloring sheets with markers

I pulled down her playroom table and set up these Frozen themed coloring sheets with mess free markers and this was also something super fun for the kiddos too while we waited out the torrential downpour.

Luckily the rain only lasted a little while and after most people got food in their bellies, we were able to bring the party right back outside!

We got Chicfila catered for the party and I got Harper’s Frozen themed birthday cake from Publix. It was easy and perfect!

Bring in The Queen

No Frozen themed birthday party is complete without queen Elsa herself.

I was so happy to find an Elsa to come to party with Harper! I booked her through a company called Party Characters for Kids and it was perfect and so easy to book!

It took a little while for Harper to warm up to her, but once she did, she followed her around EVERYWHERE it was so sweet!

They started with songs and danced around with each other and I loved watching all the kids dancing and singing along.

Then she pulled out her bag of tricks and started making balloon animals for everyone and they LOVED it! They were all mesmerized.

By the end, Harper and Elsa were like long lost BFFs and I LOVED seeing how much she loved having her there in person.

The most important thing when throwing a birthday party for your babe, remember the day is about them and even when things are out of your control, all they will remember are the good parts and their family and friends making them feel so loved.

We are SO lucky to have some of the best friends in the world and we are more than grateful to be surrounded by the best people!
