I have talked about this a lot on Instagram stories but we recently switched Whiskey over to using the Tidy Cats Breeze Litter System and we have LOVED it! It has been one of the best things we have done for him for so many different reasons. If you have a cat, you have to read this blog post and at least learn a little more about it.
We love it for so many reasons. One of them being that it has outstanding odor control. It comes with super absorbent urine pads that you slide into the bottom of the litter box system that prevent ammonia for 7 days. It is amazing! I also really love that we haven’t had to scoop up urine litter clumps at all since using this litter box system. The urine just goes straight down onto the urine pads and do not clump up in the litter. All you have to do is change the urine pad once a week. It’s as simple as that! Changing the urine pads are really easy. Just simply slide the bottom drawer out, throw away the old pad and put in a new one!
One of the biggest reasons we have loved it so much is because of the Breeze litter pellets. One thing that drove me crazy about our last litter box is that Whiskey would get the litter stuck on his paws every single time he went to use the bathroom and we would have litter all over our house. We have really dark hardwood floors which made it even harder because the litter really stuck out everywhere. These litter pellets that we switched him to are anti-tracking and they do not get stuck on his feet. Which means no more litter around our house. It is AMAZING! They also repel liquid, which is why the urine goes straight down onto the urine pad. The pellet litter also wicks away moisture from Whiskey’s poop which helps with odor control. The litter box comes with a clip on scooper which is so nice to have so we simply scoop up his poop messes once a day and we only have to change out the pellet litter once a month. It has been such a great change. The pellet litter is also 99.9% dust free!
I love that the Breeze Litter System also comes in different sizes and styles, depending on what your kitty prefers. They have an original system (which is what we have), a hooded system for cats that are used to have a hood on their litter box and an extra large system for cats that are bigger.
If you are worried about switching your cat over to a new litter box system, Tidy Cats has a lot of good recommendations on their website here. It can be tough on your cat to go through any kind of changes so I love that they help give advice to make the switch easier. We followed the below steps and Whiskey didn’t really have any issues! He has also always been really good with his litter box, thankfully!
- Introduced Breeze Litter Pellets: We started by mixing a full bag of pellets in with Whiskey’s litter that we were using.
- Brought in the Box: Once Whiskey seemed okay and used to the pellets, we placed the Breeze litter system with the pellet litter and urine pad in it next to his old litter box.
- Stopped Scooping: We stopped cleaning Whiskey’s old litter box. We did this so that the new litter box would be the only one that he wanted to keep using since the old one was dirty. We all know that cats love a clean litter box!
That’s really all that we did! Before we knew it, Whiskey was using the new litter box system. We were patient with him and made sure we didn’t switch him too quickly and made sure that he ventured into the new litter box on his own time and that we didn’t force him into it.
So that’s about it! This litter box system has just helped make our life so much easier. No more odor, no more urine clump scooping, and most importantly, no more litter all over our dark hardwood floors. It’s been amazing!! Seriously couldn’t recommend it more.
